It's a great movie, it really is. A lot like the book, too, except for some unfortunate things left out, such as Beneatha shaving her hair and the scene where Walter Jr. jumps up on the table as African music plays. Perhaps that is too load and provocative for the solemn mood they were looking for in this film.
As for the performances: spectacular. Especially Audra McDonald (Ruth) and Phylicia Rashad (Mama Lena).
