This is a fantastic book for anyone who wants to improve their overall health and wellbeing. It's well written, easy to read, yet full of credible scientific evidence drawn from many sources. I thought I knew quite a bit about nutrition, but this book busts some long-held beliefs around calorie counting and low fat foods, as well as bringing new information regarding the effect foods can have on systemic disease. Every piece of information is referenced to scientific research, and is brought together to explain the impact of our eating habits on more than just our weight, but also inflammatory conditions via the hormonal effects of food. Everyone from elite athletes to the very sedentary will find knowledge, inspiration and motivation from this book. You don't have to diet to improve your health- this book explains why dieting repeatedly fails. The importance of the timing of meals has been a revelation for me. I thoroughly recommend this book to everybody- I'd call it essential reading.
