The acting by Garner was outstanding and the allusion to the #MeToo movement was clear. But the choice of the setting as one very, very long day did not work. The movie felt not grounded in a story line. Although I get that the point to show how overworked and stressed the assistant was facing an ethical dilemma during her work day, it seemed kind of unrealistic that it all happened in one day. The ending was also too abrupt. In the last scene of her outside of the office, when she gathers up her pastry but not her cell phone, and walks away I was thinking "did she accidentally leave it there?" and then the movie ended. Maybe I missed something (but a few in the theatre laughed out loud and one said "What!?" at the abrupt end, so I do not think it was me). The one day setting overall diminishes the potential plot line. It did have strong acting by Garner and an interesting spotlight on the movie business under Weinstein. But it felt ungrounded.
