A friend suggested watching this film, and since my wife and I hadn't seen *any* of the rest of the Halloween franchise, we naively thought we'd catch up first. Heh, waaaaay more homework than we wanted (way too many Halloween franchise titles to catch up on). Fortunately we read some reviews first and settled on only watching the 1978 original before this film - and we were both quite happy that we did.
As someone who isn't a horror or slasher flick aficionado, I have to say I really enjoyed it, and I especially enjoyed the way that this sequel riffed on the original. I haven't taken the time to get really analytical about it, but my first reaction was: if you're looking for an entertaining slasher flick, this is a solid choice.
