The movie brought back so many great memories from my childhood and I had a lot of great laughs watching it. The animation style throughout was very cool. I especially liked the anime intro that then switched to the traditional gritty style Vasquez is known for. I am so relieved the voice actors are the same and that Zim still has that maniacal and hilarious laugh, and Gir has his high pitched squeal. The comedy felt familiar, but not overdone, i.e. the flaming peanuts scene was hilarious. I wish it were a series I could watch over a longer period of time! I love the movie, Jhonen Vasquez, and everyone who worked so hard on making it.

The show is most comparable to Black Mirror and perhaps Kill Bill. The scenes are so gritty (and rated R) and yet beautifully shot and almost tense. The examination of society (sex-ed in schools, popularity, jealousy and rape culture, etc) is so thought provoking and powerful that is reminds me of Black Mirror in many ways. Nanno is definitely not a heroine but not a villain either which keeps me interested even more. I honestly don't want to end the series! This is the best series of 2018.
