I saw the original Mary Poppins as a child. I was interested in what today's children would think about t. It's hard to step into the shoes of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Both primary actors were competent but not compelling. I found that the interactivity with animation by the live actors was reminiscent of the original film. I wondered if today's children would be excited by it. Children don't have the same reading stamina they once possessed and I wondered if it might be too long for today's audiences . I remember that the original was long and as I child, I did not want the movie to end. There was something flat- soda bland about this film. No breakout songs. The song at the end with the balloons was good but the rest not great. The dance numbers were ok but not spectacular. The writing was competent and coherent yet not enthralling. Because of my age, cameos by beloved stars like Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury and Meryl Streep were welcome. The children did a fine job and the brother and sister were great too. I would give this film a 7.5 out of ten
