I cannot begin to describe how I felt when I was watching this movie. The movie opens at a very slow pace and the pace remains the same throughout the movie. However for me, I loved every inch of every scene in it.
This movie is not for people who are looking for a lot of dialoguebaazi or excitement. Let's put it this way- people who go to a river site to seek adventure(through various water sports) may not like this movie as this river does not offer adventure. But for those who go to just cherish the serenity and the sound of the water flowing uninhibited and relentless, may find their inner being touched by this one.
Each character is written with a lot of nuance and I can only say that one does not have a heart if they are not touched by each of these.
Lastly, in one of the scenes, Shiuli's mother explains the meaning of her daughter's name and why she was named Shiuli- the Night Jasmine. It brought tears to my eyes as I too love the flower and it's sweet incense and used to make garlands with these during Durga Pooja for my grandfather to put in the Pooja ghar.
