The series loves minority torture and sacrifice porn. The female characters are underdeveloped as full humans either as aromantic one-dimensional characters devoted to the desires of the male counterparts or weak and completely dependent on their male counterparts primary stories. What little romance did present itself was flat to the point of boredom. There was a huge missed opportunity in Abbie's mother/family being a kick ass demon hunting family. Instead, we get to watch her tremble, scream, and cry for a couple of episodes. Of course, we get this unnecessary tension/jealousy between Katrina (Ichabod's wife) and Abbie (the female protagonist) for no more apparent reason than position Ichabod as desirable? Both ladies lose. He's a blowhard who offers very little to either. The actors did the best they could, but the writing is trite.
