Sobering and sad film. But very real. My mother died of pancreatic cancer not long ago. It's painful to watch and worse for the one dying. When people learn they have a terminal illness they want to tie up loose ends and connect with the ones they love in a deeper, more personal way. That can be difficult with anyone where the relationship has had cracks or fissures. You can only hope you will be forgiven and that you , in turn, forgive. Sam Elliott is that iconic cowboy in films and real life. Doesn't talk much, long pauses, deep stares, true grit and silent suffering. Tough with a big heart. Gotta appreciate that deep baritone voice too. Instantly recognizable. Good flick. Thanks to all who made it happen.

A gripping and evocative film with a powerful plot line. I tend to like stories that emphasize deeper character traits and reward goodness and courage, at the same time, exposing personality complexity and leanings to our darker side. Excitement, adventure, romance and the close bonds between man and animal runs through this movie. There is violence and abuse, some very light sexuality and more anxiety and stress than bliss or humor. I found myself wanting to do great bodily harm to the bad guy in the story and feeling that emotion quite intensely. I really liked the biggest star, Rosie the elephant, a lot. So, I give it 5 stars.
