It's difficult to get into this show considering that BBC's Sherlock is much more subtle with its arcs and development, but the story told through this version of Sherlock can be equally as poignant at times, and his drug addiction becomes a very relevant piece of the character.
Lucy Liu is about as good a Watson as you're going to get, and Aidan Quinn has some great moments as well. The only weak point is that the show doesn't seem to be able to lets subtleties lie, so otherwise great character moments are undercut but interactions that feel a bit too obvious. "Show-and-don't-tell" would be a good rule for the writers to utilize moving forward.
I wasn't really a fan of the way Moriarty was used in the series, but I also understood it given what we know about the characters involved.
It's not bad, it's even great at times, but I think the whole show could be elevated by making things a little less obvious in character.
