This film is a unique and thoughtful portrayal of Van Gogh in his later years. Thankfully, it avoids psychoanalyzing Van Gogh, and presents a remarkable portrait of the artist, as an artist. I would have to say that, so far, this is actor Willem Dafoe's masterpiece. The unusual "moving camera" technique effectively represents the subjective perceptions of the troubled painter. I suggest that anyone who does not know Van Gogh, should familiarize themselves with some of his work, then see "At Eternity's Gate". It is a significant addition to the Van Gogh legend.
