It renders the original trilogy pointless by resurrecting the emperor and not explaining how he came back to life. Now all that Luke did in the galaxy to defeat the emperor was pointless. Thanks Disney for making my childhood hero Luke Skywalker seem like a flat character in the scope of Star Wars. Fantastic special effects and nothing more were on display. Skywalker did not rise, but a great film franchise fell yet again because of a lousy episode. Surprisingly bad, given how good the Mandalorian is.
