Can't stress enough how happy I was to avoid seeing the reviews for this movie until about 45 minutes into this film (my first break to wipe my tears and regain composure) I have always had a beef with the way "Critics" opinions are advertised and can seriously affect who gets to see a film. I can honestly say there isn't a person who couldn't relate to multiple moments in this film, moments of sorrow, shock, and love. The acting is phenomenal, anyone who has worked with people who have been institutionalized or have personally been institutionalized due to trauma will have their heart strings tugged on by Oscaar Isaac and Annette Benning's performances. While tragedy is a constant theme in this film it equally focuses on the development of love that really makes those tragic moments resonate even more. I can't remember the last time I was left so emotionally effected by a film in all the ways I was not expecting going in. We need to get back to watching dramatic films based on face value and not the critic's opinions. Thank you Amazon for continually having this film pop up in my queue!
