SPOILER WARNING!!
Going into this game, I already had high expectations for the developers. The Last Of Us 1 was an amazing game, not just because the visuals, gameplay, and story were a true masterpiece for that time, but because all of that was conducted and infused with each other in such a way that it felt like you were pulled into the actual story. That was may same expectation for this game, and they severely underperformed. The visuals were almost real life status, the gameplay had some minor improvements over the first game, but the story was empty, sloppy, and lazily killed off the only likable characters, which by the way, were few. The story is supposed to be the glue that holds it together, and they did not deliver on that point. The issues became apparent when steroid Abby savagely killed Joel with a golf club, it wasnโt so much that he died, but rather he looked so weak and so pitiful laying on the floor. Because of this you almost forget reasons that you liked Joel as a character in the first game. That once gritty father figure is now a pathetic old man, and Iโm almost happy they killed him off when they did, almost. In reality if your going to kill a man that beloved by fans, then send him out with a boom and not a wet fart. Another issue is Abbyโs reason for killing him. To put it short, her dad was one of the hundreds of people Joel killed, and he was the was doctor that was going operate on Ellie, and got shot for it. Look, I understand that they needed an antagonist, but if your gonna make the villain stem from revenge, at least use a person that would be related to character with a larger role in the last game. I hardly remember that doctor, but I do remember Marline and David. Any of those people would have at least a nephew looking for revenge. On a final not though, do not make the player hate a person and then force them to play as said character. There is no quicker way to make someone hate a game.
