This is one of the best books I've read. The author does a wonderful job in creating a world where the poor are subjected to endless suffering and a never ceasing war that benefits the rich. Furthermore, the author does not hesitate to paint the atrocities committed in the name of righteousness and heresy in a society where religion and magic is deeply interwoven in the people's lives. But what stood out for me was the villain of the story. i could say he is something between the Darkling (Grishaverse), Rhysand (ACOTAR) and Cardan(Wicked King). It is easier to empathize with his plight and passion but much easier to hate him. He is totally relatable! Read read read this book
