The pace of this story gave time to absorb the growing tension between passionate young people caught in the vortex of political passions of the time. Judi Dench portrayed a young, brilliant woman who grew in courage as she made moral choices. We see an older woman hold firm to her beliefs in the face of conflict. No loud music, no car chases, instead the story draws us into the issues that still face us today.
