I love all types of dance and this show features some outstanding performances. However I was dismayed by the negative competitive attitudes exhibited by the first duel in last night’s show. Derek Hough mitigated it a bit when he said that the dancers appreciate each other’s talent (or something to that effect). This is a competition between highly skilled dancers but the competitive attitudes were over the top. I was so disappointed that I turned off the show. I hope the producers tone this down in future programs. It is a shame to teach young people to be rude to each other. High school students can be mean. There is no reason to condone this behavior.
