I thought it was atrocious. I considered walking out of the theater a couple times within the first 45 minutes. I liked the original 80's-90's trilogy and, to a certain extent, Bride of Chucky, and I can understand them not wanting to make the same movie again, but this feels so far off the mark from what made the original films charming and at the same time hopelessly derivative of modern slasher films. Many of the performances were weak and the characters were unlikeable, the lead child and his mother didn't click at all as mother and son. The policeman character had potential but was never developed. On a positive note Mark Hamill's for acting was good, and obviously a very different take on Brad Dourif's Chucky. The animatronics and CGI for Chucky honestly didn't look as good as some of the practical effects in the original film from 1988. The "technology is evil and is taking over our lives" subplot felt like something from Black Mirror. The pace did pick up slightly in the last 20 minutes, but it felt almost like an unfinished film, or a film with a lot of content cut from it. Overall this re-make is an answer to a question nobody asked.
