i have not read the books but I do remember the movies fondly. that said, the show started great, but the more the story progresses the more the flaws become apparent.
The writing is lacking, the acting is ok but no one is getting any awards here. The chemistry between the characters seems forced and inexistent. Also, I know in the books the children are supposed to be the 12 but I find it strange that children would be traveling alone and no one is calling child services, the police are attempting to arrest them for no reason beyond making a point for the plot. The FBI is even chasing a 12-year-old boy.... should they not be launching an Amber alert or something?
In the movies they made the characters teenagers I think 15 or older, this is a good change from the books as it makes more sense for the authorities to be after them and that people would not be consistently questioning why they are traveling alone. This bothered me and then the flaws became very apparent the acting is wooden the dialogue is clunky, it seems all the dialogue is about a to do list the actors are going through. As the story advances the lack of chemistry between the characters on screen becomes apparent. It started great but I will be dropping the show.
