This is a really bad movie. I find the glowing reviews very puzzling. It does have a beautiful look and takes us to some beautiful locations (and some of the cast are of course easy on the eye) but the plot is very sketchily set out, the characters unbelievable with very little character development. It was hard to be in any way invested in what happened to any of them, good guys or baddies. It is also extremely and unnecessarily long.
Having missed this when it came out, we googled the movie info, expecting it to be the first attempt by a novice director (albeit with deep pockets) and were stunned to find it was Spielberg and had received Oscar nominations.
This film would only seem intelligent if the only other films you tended to watch were Muppets and Marvel.
