What a fabulous book. My maternal grandparents were Group Settlers and I was loaned this book to read as I was unable to find any real accounts of the reality of the hardships and lives of the ordinary folk who came out to WA's south. These brave families laid the real foundations of the communities we see today. I laughed and I cried and could really see and feel what Millie was telling us through her teenage eyes. The strength, courage and resilience of these group settlers is staggering and it is so very sad to see that the majority of them just had to abandon years of hard work and still be in debt to the bank/government who did very little to help and support them. So very well done Millie McRobb and thank you for sharing.
