I was entertained watching this show. I've also learned a lot and gain more respect to head chefs. I felt throughout the show, there were very few exposures with some cultural background chefs especially India and NZ. Both really defeated the typical stereotype of a male dominant position. I was very intrigued with how the NZ woman does her type of cooking on the outdoors. She was very unique and I think she could say a lot that could translate into her type of dish that means something to her sort of her philosophy. Also, I think it was a let down that they crowned the winner who wasn't deserving. I think the other 3 finalists did their best on taking risks and showing who they are as a chef. To me personally, I would've crowned Darren the winner from CA. He did something with a story and a dish that really represented him. I would be fine with the other two Australian Dudes. I also felt like during the verdict, the US chef really did twist the mind of the other chef. Clearly most people's opinions vouch for Darren (even the Japanese Chef was smiling and proud of him)
If there is another season for the show, I would like to see some changes with how the judge the show. I notice most guest ambassadors were not worth inviting honestly speaking. Inviting comedians to the show, actors, models? I would've appreciated more if they could invite more food critic like what they did on France region. I didn't like the idea of making the country's national dish. That really showcase everyone's strength. It would've been nice to see them use the country's ingredients like what they did on the elimination round but more intricate.
After watching the series, I found out that even producers and network affected the judge's decision making which threw me off guard. I hope they modified the show and really show the credibility, solemnity, integrity, and respectability.
