All I can say is series 1-3 very good. Series 4 has admitted it doesn't pander to fandom. All I will say is remember why you are still around 14 years later. It's dark and moody and lacks the fun of the original series. Has lots more swear words and the subtle sexual references of the original are in your face obvious.
