Boringly predictable. Well made enough. But I knew it was gonna be her partner the second he was introduced. Because it always is. A tired, boring cliche that can’t even be called a “twist”, because of how many times this has been done

The problem I have with this film is exactly the same I have for the remake. It runs out of steam too quickly, the build up isn't’ bad, but the outcome is so predictable and the delivery of the revenge scenes is rushed. The acting wasn’t the most convincing too It would been so much better if it worked on its build up better, and had a better delivery and some sort of twist to spice it up. There was some decent atmosphere in it a times, but the rushed quality it had lost it. But like I said, the remakes is no better infact it drags it out more and becomes quite boring. I’d rate it 4.5 out 10

I’m a huge horror fan! I don’t like films that rely on gore to make it’s story work (unless they’re just a cheesy, campy slasher) for me it’s all about atmosphere, characters, creativity and suspense. Martyrs has all of that with plenty of gore as well. It’s very disturbing, unsettling and well made. I think towards the end it goes a little over-the-top with it’s blood and becomes a little tedious with the torture, but does still manage to keep your attention held and the ending is more than worth it. Although a little overdone towards the end, I find it to be a great film - albeit not a favourite of mine, but check it out! 6/10 from me

Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn... need I say more? People may prefer the masterpiece that is Seven Samurai, which I love - but for me this has better characters and a finer setting. 8/10 for me

One of my all time favourite horror movies. Perfect concept, antagonist, characters and narrative. Incredible practical effects that hold up to this day. Still horrifying as it was back in the 80s. I’d give it a 9/10

Although maybe not as good as other horror classics, Carrie still holds up as a moving, devastating and at times a very creepy film. Brian De Palma got the balance of these elements perfectly. Mixing psychological, mind-control and bullying/intimidating themes of all part of the horror as all of these things can be everyday horrors that people face and have to live with; telekinesis or not. I’d give it an 8 out of 10

Overall intriguing, astonishing and genuinely awe-inspiring. A dynamic, inconceivable and captivating piece of cinema, that will be forever be highly remarked. The ultimate film experience.

Don’t be put off by Shyamalan previous horror failures, because The Visit is for me, nearly as good as The Sixth Sense. The storyline is well thought out, great performances, well shot and paced. Defiantly worth a check out if you like atmospheric, chilling, down to earth horror with some lighthearted moments here and there. 7/10 from me.

Some may disagree but for me, no amount of jumpscares will ever defeat the horror of films like Halloween. I’ve seen hundreds of horror films, new, old, all. But not only is Halloween one of the scariest, it’s one of the most iconic shoe string budget movies ever to be made. The shots, the sounds, the music, the concept, the build up, the suspense, the transition from day to night in one long build, it’s all incredible. Still to this day, it continues to shock, frighten and keep audiences on the edge of their seat. It really is a masterpiece of horror, and will forever remain one of the best original horror movies ever, and not a single sequel or Rob Zombie remake, will ever come close to the terror the original caught. For me it’s a sold 9.5/10

I think everyone knows Rob Zombie isn’t a brilliant director with many a brilliant movie, even his fans would agree and he’d be the first to admit that he doesn't. But what I like about Zombie is he doesn’t take himself seriously, he knows his films are campy, wild, gory and over the top, but he doesn’t pretend they’re great movies and he doesn’t try to be the next John Carpenter or Wes Craven. He knows his style isn’t what makes a great horror movie but has a loyal fanbase who appreciates his unique manner of film. Anyone new to watching Rob Zombie movies I would always suggest you watch them as more black comedies, than straight horrors. They’re not to be taken fully seriously, with their excessively violent scenes and exaggerated characters, which is why I enjoy them. 31, just like his others are not fantastic horror movies, but as I said looking at them more as as dark comedy is the best way. Zombie clearly takes a more lighthearted approach to them, and that’s the way his stories should be. Overall, 31 is not one of his best by a long way, but still a decent fun flick. If you love ofer the top goofy, gory horror but with a nice blend of badass yet very exaggerated characters you’ll really appreciate this movie. I’d give it 6.5 out of 10 for fun, campy and gory entertainment quality, with some memorable characters in the mix.
