This would easily be a four-star game if they could make it stable (Xbox One version). I understand that when a game first releases that there will be bugs and glitches and you will have deal with the occasional crash. In fact on day 1, the game met that bar: it would freeze every once and while but only after several hours of gameplay. It was annoying, but tolerable and the expectation is that these bugs would get fixed in upcoming patches.
But two patches later the game is practically unplayable. It now crashes when you switch operatives. It crashes halfway into almost every mission making it impossible to make any progress with out constantly recovering prior ground. It crashes when you switch between menus. It crashes when you're just roaming the open world. It crashes after you buy clothing at store. It crashes ALWAYS when you enter a bare-knuckle boxing arena. Once it crashed within 10 seconds of restarting.
Sorry, Ubisoft. It may not seem fair to penalize you in a review on a game that is still being patched. But I paid full price for a game on day one with the expectation I could at least play it 15 minutes in one sitting. The thing is I was enjoying this game when I could play it. I would actually recommend it highly once it's fixed. The play as anyone mechanic is endless amounts of fun.
My advice to any potential buyer is to wait six months. Hopefully by then the game will be stable and also sold at a lower price. That's my plan for AC: Valhalla.
