As someone who really liked the Martin Scorsese films this was based off, I loved the film (ESPECIALLY the last half of the film), but the first half was missing some depth. Some would say the first act was too slow, but I think that has to do more so with there not being as much depth to the story and in turn not feeling as much sympathy as I could have towards what happens to him (which has nothing to do with Joaquin's fantastic performance). That being said, the cinematography was perfect and would not be surprised to see it get an oscar nomination. Acting was top notch all across the board and especially so for the main star of the film, Joaquin Phoenix. So much so that I think an oscar nomination is inbound for him as well. Music was also great and really fit with the theme of the film. Over all it was a good film with an okay start, but really sticks the landing well towards the end. Would definitely recommend as this is also in a sense, another step forward in the superhero genre as well for DC films.
