The historic revelation of the formation of New York, from the beginning with the Dutch settlement to the tragedy of World Trade Center Towers, is fascinating as well as engaging, and allows the reader to, once again, experience continuation of the Michener style genius. Rutherfurd impressively portrays 350 years of the City's history through his main characters, and splendidly draws the reader into the story and experience the evolution of the New York environment. The book entices me to review his other works. All 857 pages are worth the time.
