I really enjoyed the movie. It was nostalgic, fun, funny and a story with heart. Great acting all around but Ryan Gosling stole the show.

This is a silly, fun horror movie with a twist, about a group of friends who stay overnight in an isolated mansion on New Year’s Eve. Soon after midnight eerie and gruesome occurrences start to happen and they are picked off one by one. Is it a malevolent spirit? A crazed psycho killer? Will any make it out alive? You’ll have to watch to find out. It’s unlikely to win oscars but it provides plenty of laughs (several low brow) and light-hearted, suspenseful entertainment.

I mostly enjoyed it as it was creepy with an intriguing and engaging storyline. They even managed to somehow make the doll boy sympathetic. The only downside was the twist near the end. I wish it had gone a different direction. Overall I’d give it about 3.5/5
