Fine I guess. If I never read it I wouldn’t be missing out on anything.
I think when it was written ‘found footage’ was more en vogue. This is a found footage book.
Gimmick typesetting and structure is very pretentious, and completely unnecessary. I understand what the author was trying to do, but it in no way enhances the reading experience. Maybe if the actual writing was above mediocre it would have worked better.
Plot is cheap and cowardly.
It is the weakness of found footage that the stakes are always extremely low. Certainly the case here.
Hilariously, the jacket implies the children in the book are, spooky in some way. I guess to indicate some kind of consequence.
Anyway, read Jon dies at the end if you’re looking for extra dimensional hijinks.
