I absolutely loved this show, and wasn’t expecting to as I’m not really a fan of heist movies so usually tend to steer clear. The fact that you can watch 7 of the 8 episodes in any order piqued my interest though, and I’m so glad it did because it really was interesting seeing how all the little loose ends came together throughout the series to culminate in the finale. We watched in “rainbow order” (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, violet), of course culminating in white, and it really worked. I’m really surprised by the critical reviews because I found the actors worked well together and their characters were all engaging, plus the twists and turns were pretty decent - or at least they were in the order we watched - and the splattering of humour was just enough to offset some of the more emotional scenes. I do think order may play a key part in your enjoyment of the show though, given the mixed reviews: I’ve read some people say they were rooting for Salas in the end and Leo/Ray’s reason for revenge wasn’t valid as what Salas did “wasn’t that bad”; I cannot fathom how anyone could take that stance based on what we watched (and the order in which we watched it) so I’d definitely suggest you consider rainbow order when you watch it.

So, so disappointing. I never much cared for Mr Big’s character, or his dynamic with Carrie, so I haven’t mourned his loss. The loss of Samantha though, and the way Kim Catrall was unceremoniously thrown under the bus by the rest of the cast, was a harder pill to swallow. Nonetheless, as a nearly 40 year old SATC fan, I persevered. Oh my goodness, how I wish I hadn’t. The storylines are so contrived and utterly try hard. Being both poorly written and poorly executed, I can think of no more eloquent a way to describe this as, at best, a cringey watch. Like many things from my past, SATC is much better left there.
