I couldn't stop watching this Hulu series, what a harrowing odyssey this family endured, it puts you right in the middle of what Jewish people suffered in Europe and elsewhere, as bigotry spread out of fright of the Germans. What brave moves this family made in order to survive. They proved that if you follow all the rules, it could get worse, to put it mildly. They used all their courage, desperation, brainpower and heart and soul to survive, a testament to the resiliency of the human spirit. Very rewarding ending, made me cry from relief, I loved this true story.

We Were the Lucky Ones

I first watched this back in 1993 and immediately fell in love/lust with Daniel Day Lewis. He made this movie great with his magnetic presence. The love scenes with Madeliene Stowe are smoking, there was some genuine chemistry going on like she was thinking "Me likey alot." If I could choose whatever partner I wanted in the world, I would've chosen him, he's got it all. I'm a madfan. The movie was great too.

The Last of the Mohicans

I liked this book, liked reading about the way of life for the characters in 1976. I felt Eiles was a strong woman who knew her own mind and decides she's not going to take care of her husband's baby born from a dalliance, and who can blame her there? Feeling betrayed and minimized by her spouse and in-laws, she travels to Ireland obstensibly to celebrate her Mom's 80th birthday, but also to send a message to her in-laws that she's not their doormat. I would've gotten a lawyer, they had no respect for her IMHO. Things heat up fast in Ireland with a meet up with an old boyfriend. Her kids come over, and Grandma is thrilled. There isn't a tidy resolution here; it struck me as a character study versus people who act, and people who let things happen. My ending would have Eiles coming home, divorcing, and taking her brother up on his offer. The life of a doormat would not be in her future. The village she came from sounds horrible; a bunch of mean-spirited gossips looking for dirt. Get a life already.

I thought it was me not getting this movie, then I read the reviews. It could have been interesting with the cast of different characters, would have liked to see a scene at the charity with the lead character in the mix, but no. It seemed to devolve into another movie full of hit men, drug dealers, junkies and a mean drunk. I need something more wholesome at this point in my life, society's underbelly types remind me of the poverty I escaped. No thanks.

The Unicorn

I was sucked into the drama, but increasingly asked myself why I am passively watching yet another grim, humorless drama about bad people doing bad things? Why is criminal behavior such popular fodder for entertainment? If I met these people I would run as fast as I could away from them, what’s the draw? Good production, top notch acting, but dreary subject. No thanks, I can do without endless dramas about murdering thugs.
