I will be honest, i was very excited for this movie and i was sorely dissapointed, when i saw the tagline " historys worst criminals and tyrants as they plot to destroy the world." i was soaring, i expected a father-son team up as they go through each villain one by one as they stop them, each villain having a specific fighting style allowing for some of the insane fight choreography that kingsman is known for. And for one glorious moment i had that with the Rasputin fight, from Rhys Ifans' amazing and unsettling performance to the ballet-style fighting, to Rasputins seeming immortalitly i loved all of it " if this is the first villain fight then it can only get better i thought". I was wrong.
From this point in the movie the only explanation that i can possibly think of is that the director took the exact same cast of the "kings man" movie and created a completely seperate world war movie ala 1917 and Dunkirk, then happily spliced the two movies together at will. I have no idea why the war part was needed but it was jarring and took me out of it completely
i went into the film expecting a lot more and was dissapointed. As a movie it was alright but as a Kingsman movie it was awful, i watch kingsman movies to see british humor, bright colours, amazing- silly fight scenes and most importantly- to laugh. I was sad this film couldnt fufil.
