One of the greatest films of all time.
I simply can not fathom how anyone could not love this movie, it beautifully deals with the complex concepts of death and grief while showcasing a fun and whimsical world.
All of the actors are incredible and morph into their respective characters absolutely.
While the effects are dated by modern standards they are still of a high quality, selling the magic of the store and do not distract from the beauty of the world.
The score is also phenomenal.
Mr Magorium's speech is an absolute masterpiece and will never fail to make me shed a tear.
"When King Lear dies in Act V, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He's written "He dies." That's all, nothing more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. The culmination of the most influential work of dramatic literature is "He dies." It takes Shakespeare, a genius, to come up with "He dies." And yet every time I read those two words, I find myself overwhelmed with dysphoria. And I know it's only natural to be sad, but not because of the words "He dies." but because of the life we saw prior to the words."
10/10 would recommend to anyone.
