A TV show that encourage body shaming and bullying as part of ‘comedy’. The season starts off with experienced cooks @ contestants paired up with newbies @ comali (jokers) and their outcomes will be presented by the judges @ well renowned chefs, Mr. Bhat & Mr. Damo.
The show initially was comical - based on how a cook handles a newbie kinda situation). But few episodes after the first season, it started off by verbal abuses, encouraging flirting, harming the newbies, gender stereotypes, biased, and repeated comedies which eventually became normal for them.
In normal cooking show we tend to see judges who critique the food prepared by the contestants. But in this show one of the judges can be seen slapping, throwing utensils, manhandling, verbal abuse, harming, personal vengeance, takeaway the comedian’s belongings such as sunglasses or any props and use it to attack the comedians of the show @ comali or even give them burn marks with fire or with any hot objects nearby, using sharp objects as well - this behaviour is a way to show his supremacy, if anything that offends him he would just do everything above. Also, he’s very good at showing off as tho none could have done it especially on the tasks given for the contestants or comalis. He can’t tolerate any comalis plays characters from movies of his favourite actors. So, he will simply trash them or takeaway their screen time by messing up with their outfits or their hairdos. It’s a simple character of a bully can be seen yet he sees himself as the bullies from shows like Charlie Chaplin & cartoons like Tom & Jerry and doesn’t regret for doing such things. Although this issues was made to his attention, neither do the comalis or contestants have raised their voices but encouraged such things in the name of comedy. Side note, you would have never seen anyone judging based on the smell of the food(non vegetarian). He could simply judge based on smell and observation then give scores for the dishes made by contestants. I wonder why other cooking shows still tasting the food. I understand he couldn’t eat non veg but judging like that looks unfair to me.
Yes, you can make it laughable even without harming anyone physically or mentally. Mr. Kamal Haasan for example did educate people on how it works on his movies, so learn from it. Yet, it’s a norm in this show or any other shows telecasted - even in some Indian movies. I’ve never binged to any shows for more than a decade and found this show interesting yet nothing different or changed. Still treating the people like a piece of trash and some of the comedians with their uncontrollable verbal abuses or discrimination.
I hope this show gets to improvise. Try to watch episodes of 19/3/23 where one of the judge leaves the show due to personal reason and trust me it was so peaceful. Anything I’ve mentioned above was lessened for a short time being and it was good to watch. I understand the judges have the flexibility but it’s just getting over the board sometimes. Don’t ruin the only show I’m watching. Thank you
