I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book about two young girls and their lives into maturity One was born in a wealthy family and the other in a very poor family. Ready it was a learning experience about Tanzania. Susan Lewallen is a gifted writer. The narrative is well crafted; the characters voices are true and descriptive of their station in Tanzania. The ending at first left me up in the air until I realized that was the author intent in portraying the changing times for women for the better in Tanzania.
