Dexter definitely deserved a better ending and a death with more honour! I spend the entire festive season watching DEXTER Seasons 1 to 8 for the first time and grew quite fond of the character who took being a killer to the next level. The end of Dexter New Blood wasn’t satisfying enough for me at all. It was supposed to make me be able to say goodbye to Dexter and his legacy and when I thought of the series, I would think only good things. In my personal opinion I would rather had Dexter die in the hurricane Laura shortly after dumping Debra’s body in the ocean and had the show end right there and then. At the end of New Blood, Dexter wanted to flee but his son wouldn’t go with. He would rather turn in his father and face the music. Dexter then asked to have his son end his life which Harrison did. But when time came for Harrison to speak up about what he saw and kept from the law he felt it was ok to flee in the same manner he wouldn’t allow his poor father to. People think bringing in a sequel to a perfect story can only bring good things. Unfortunately I could sum New Blood up in one sentence. Harrison finds Dexter, Harrison learns the code, Harrison betrays Dexter and gets away. You can have your opinion, but I think Dexter should have been caught and then killed in the Electric-chair with some dignity or at least some honour or he should have gotten away with his son or even without Harrison. DEXTER was 5 stars, New Blood: not so much.
