I really love a lot of things about this show and when I discovered it I binged almost the whole thing. I think the acting from Sam, Cait, and Tobias is fantastic and there's a lot of intriguing plot points. The sets and costumes are likewise beautiful as is the score. Like a lot of people have said, seasons 1&2 are the best and strongest seasons by far. Seasons 3, 4 and 5 are a bit more lackluster in terms of plot and acting ( I wish they'd give Bonnet more screen time because he is such an interesting character and I enjoy watching him WAY more than Roger). One of my main qualms with the show, however, is just how much sex the writers chose to include in literally EVERY season. I feel like the sex in Game of Thrones almost drove the plot forward more than it does in Outlander. I think it works in seasons 1 and 2 even if it is a little much, but I don't want to watch 15 mins of Jamie and Claire moaning and humping. There are other ways to show that they love each other and I think they make use of more of those ways in the earlier seasons but give them sex scenes later after they reunited to show that "they still got it." I think it's super great that they want to show that they still love each other, but I think it could be a little more subtle. Another qualm I had was with just how self-righteous Claire is. I get it, she's independent, she's a strong woman. Nothing wrong with that, but it gets old that she always thinks she's in the right all the time. The way she treated Frank was just so wrong. He deserved better! Finally I just think Brianna and Roger are so boring. Granted both actors have improved quite a bit this season I think, but I just don't think they have much chemistry or character motivation. My final qualm is that I don't think the native Americans were represented accurately. I'm no historian, but one of them was legit wearing blush and idk if they had that.
I think Outlander has a lot of really amazing qualities for a show, just some things about it are frustrating for sure. I think I'd recommend it.
