Less about sci-fi than about interrelationships. Way too much crying, bawling, tearing, mewling and drying of eyes. Gene Roddenberry would have a fit if he saw the emotional wreck they make out Spock to be.
Lost count of all the times the ship/universe/humanity was about to blow up, but the crew of Discovery still makes the time to get in touch with their feelings.
Finally, I get that there are gay members of Star Fleet, but i'm really sore from getting hit over the head with it every single episode. A little more subtlety, please. Put it (your agenda) back in your pants and just do your job.
