A couple of years ago, I watched the trailers and thought they were rubbish. I grew up with Dora and loved the cartoon show. As I got older, I felt apathetic towards the franchise. But today, I watched it with my sibling, and not even five minutes in, I left the living room and went into my room. My instincts were correct back then – this movie is rubbish, and I don’t care if it’s good or not. I don’t even trust live-action cartoon adaptations nowadays.
In the first two minutes of the movie, Dora and Diego were shown with the talking purple bag, the map, Swiper, and the monkey (whatever his name was). And a few seconds later, It showed that all of that is in her head, it was not real. This is based on a cartoon show about it, not a parody. They should have stuck with that fantasy/lore and made a great, compelling story about the characters of Dora and her world. It’s such an utter disrespect to the original show. It’s clear that the people behind the scenes like to mock the cartoon show.
