I don’t even know where to start with this complete mess of a show. Growing up with the 2012 TMNT, I fell in love with the characters and the story. It captured an amazing balance of inspiration, comedy, and emotion. You could easily grasp and relate to the personalities of the 2012 TMNT characters, which is the complete opposite of Rise. The new show makes the turtles immature, unskilled, and just nothing in comparison of what the turtles used to be. Instead of having Raphael as the hotheaded sarcastic guy, he appears as a big buffoon who cannot lead the team to save his life. And what happened to the wise, experienced ninja and caring father that was Splinter? He turned into a lazy absent-minded idiot who can’t even remember the turtles’ names. What I used to love in the episodes when Splinter kicked butt in the 2012 series, is replaced with him not even being a needed character in Rise. Overall, the new show never feels meaningful or seems to have any depth with the story and characters, and is just way too childish for people who’ve loved the turtles franchise for so long to watch.
