pacing is odd at times but aesthetics and emotional impact make up for it--it's beautifully flippantly blunt and deeply profound, striking a remarkable balance act for a coming-of-age film. 8/10

This book pleasantly surprised me! Emoni is a really raw, real, and well-balanced character who you root for from the beginning and Malachi is a believable and sweet love interest! I wish that maybe there had been a little more scientific explanation for the "magic cooking" stuff or Elizabeth Acevedo had leaned into the magic stuff harder. But it was overall really good and a wonderful portrayal of teen moms 9/10

This movie is just great. While it's not necessarily action-packed or having the best-written arc, it still has a quiet, real-life appeal. The main character is relatable and interesting, the romance is thoughtful and compelling, and the overall story is great. 10/10 recommend, great family movie.

Disappointing, dry, and overall untalented. Pathetically tries to make you melancholy, but actually, does nothing to draw viewers in or emotionally attach them to the characters. The saving grace of the movie is Zendaya's performance, the only reason it has one star. Otherwise, the cast is extremely boring, the plot is weak and flimsy, and the 'emotional' moments are weak and forced.

This book is an amazing finish to a wonderful series. Crafted as usual with all of Daniel Handler's wit, flavor, and signature style, it ties up all the ends in a perfect harmony of pain and justice served.
It tackles the age-old question "When is it right to kill?" in a strange and gruesome train ride through an eerie landscape.
