The critics have no idea what they're talking about. This is a Godzilla movie and they are complaining about it not having enough human element when it comes to it the human element is there but it's not really needed. I can argue about it but I would really recommend you watching the movie if you like big monster battles.
We're giving a look at Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra there are other monsters in the movie but they're not really shown much which I could say is a negative. BUT their new so I don't know if you we really need them to have screne time but we are focusing on the main four.
I think the human characters are hit-and-miss they have more emotion showing but when it comes to it the old school Godzilla movies did have a kind of explanation for some of the monsters. But I think a lot of people would rather not have an explanation for them, I'm okay with it.
The movie is a really good watch and it really didn't bother me one bit.
And critics shouldn't be listening to they have no idea what a Godzilla movie is keep that in mind
