Isabelle Faraci

I am quite invested with the plot but I have many issues regarding the writing. It just feels off and very rushed at times. The author seems to try too hard to capture the voice of a teenager but isn’t consistent with it and comes off as cheesy at times. With the story being first person oriented the vocabulary used is incredibly advanced for a supposed ill-mannered and decently uneducated 17 year old. The romance is weirdly avoided yet constantly brought up and has been rushed since the first book. And Mare is honestly turning into a horrible person and very hypocritical. Don’t get me wrong,I’m all for a story from the point of view of someone who isn’t perfect or even leans more towards the behavior of a “bad guy”, I’ve wanted a story from the perspective of the bad guy since I was a kid, but we’re suppose to cheer Mare on and it just seemed wrong. I will keep reading the series and I think the story line has so much potential but I cannot say I don’t have issues with the book.
