I found it charming. My complaints have nothing to do with CGI fur; I didn’t even mind the human hands or footwear. Imo the film missed the mark by focusing entirely on the Jellicle competition— inserting McCavity’s shenanigans into magically relocating cats to Growltiger’s barge, rearranging the songs, cutting certain favorites (such as Growltiger’s battle & Billy McCaw) and having the cat-characters sing about themselves in first person, which came off like bragging, esp. in the case of Gus the theatre cat. Perhaps it simplified the shooting schedule to remove Bustopher Jones (James Cordon), Jennyanydots (Rebel Wilson) and Bombalurina (Taylor Swift) from crowd scenes—but it seemed wrong. I did like the ending though! Very clever =^..^=
