The plot is was more interesting than the summary or even title lead on. It was also interesting reading from a “popular” person’s perspective because that’s never a mindset or attitude I’ve been able to experience for myself. I also like that this book isn’t black and white. Every conflict with every character that’s brought up has valid points from both perspectives. (SPOILERS IN PARENTHESIS: for example, Gia’s brother featuring her in his film was rude, but it also is to totally true. So many of us are addicted to social media and validation. What he did was wrong to the main character, but the reader still learns/hears that from his actions. Gia lying was wrong, but she was experiencing borderline bullying and was just trying to hold onto what she had. Jules was an a**hole, and there really is no justification for that, but we are given a reason as to why she acts the way she does from the small notes into her home life we get. I just appreciate how characters aren’t presented as bad, their actions are what are bad, and even with that, we can learn from them). The ending was somewhat unsatisfactory because not every conflict was resolved, but I think that was the point. The main character outgrew the others, and was at peace with that because in that growth she found new and more mean full relationships with other characters. I really really liked this book and it honestly might be my fav Kasie west book now (I’ve read 4 others and previously on the fence was my favorite). I totally recommend this book!
