I went into this with an open mind. I walked away from it disgusted by the ridiculous (and whiny) hypocritical sense of entitlement flowing from its pages. This book represents everything most people hate about entitled millennials. This book might as well be titled the “Meghan is Awesome and Here’s Why” book. If I came into the book with any sense of sympathy about the bad media coverage because I am raising biracial children and have a lot in common with Meghan in terms of background, I walked away from the book nauseated from the complete lack of self-awareness and their coming across basically like spoiled brats that have no sense of duty or the common good. The entire book is about how the monarchy and British media/public didn’t fully applaud or appreciate what the couple brought to the table. At least Princess Di was real (and self-deprecating) and suffering from some legitimate wrongs (although the way she went about it wasn’t exactly laudable). If you intended to set the record straight, you did — it just made anyone who is also not an entitled millennial want to basically vomit in their mouth. You are not the Obamas. You are not Oprah. If the quiet life is what you supposedly crave, then stop trying to get attention at every turn. I am now an even bigger fan of “Never Complain, Never Explain.” I feel bad for Her Majesty the Queen and I am American, not British! I was hopeful for this couple when they got married, but now I am completely Team Cambridge. Sorry guys, it’s not all about you. Get over yourselves.
