My daughter and I watched this together. She’s two, but stayed captivated and so did I. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear here and there. I sincerely hope it gets a sequel that follows the adventures of Long the dragon. Perhaps he will meet his master once more?

I am most definitely biased, seeing as to how I am named after one of the characters. For me, personally, what made the movie fall flat was the lack of characterization. They took several great, and truly tragic stories of mutant youth, which each character fitting a different mold, and made a stereotypical coming of age type film that ties in not at all with anything else in Marvel studios, despite the obvious opportunities to do so. They tried to market it as a horror film, which I don’t think was a wise play straight out of the gate. They could’ve easily tied this into the Deadpool(Magik is Collossus’ baby sister) franchise and kept it going, yet they chose to not mention any of the way the new mutants actually tied into other heavyweights of the marvel universe. As a result, they made a stand alone film, in the sense that it does feel like it is standing alone..outside of the marvel cinematic universe..I have been waiting years for this, so even though everything was aesthetically pleasing, the writers failed this film terribly so.

Im not mad at it. The last two were definitely a bit more kid friendly, but these types of reboots aren't always targeted for kids. They are usually meant for us, now adults, who watched the original in our youth. I will say, I did not want to watch the new jumanji initially. I actually only watched it because of this sequel. I was afraid that they were just throwing a few big names into a film, stepping on the backbone of robin williams jumanji, purely for profit. I mean, that is what happened, but it was overall still a good watch. I can see how the last one did well enough to warrant this sequel. The cinematography was fantastic, as are the actors. You can generally expect that with a film with enough money behind it to buy numerous well established actors. I'm still waiting on the point though. I need an explanation for why we needed a reboot, an explanation on how the original is connected to this. If that doesn't happen, it just continues to be the film industry taking advantage of a dead man's nostalgic legacy. At least it will have good cgi, fight scenes, and comedy.

For a movie that came out nearly two decades ago, I must say, I still love it. I remembered reading the book and then watching the film in my early school years. I recently got Disney+ for my little girl, which I completely recommend...i saw this in the catalogue and decided Id watch it after putting her to bed, since it would be quite boring for a two year old. It still gives me the same emotion. The film in itself isn't bad, but I would love to see a remake since disney has been doing so many of those. I love the storyline. It really does give such good insights on love, life, and loss. A good read, certainly, but if you're not a bookworm...i believe the movie did it justice despite its differences and speculations. Side note: if you have seen the movie Sin City, the old town hooker that rats them out for a killing a cop? She plays the young girl in this movie..it makes me feel very strangle, but it nevertheless has a good overall plot and message.

I absolutely adore this story. From beginning to end, it will make you want to weep tears of sadness and joy. The essence of family that Pete had with Elliot for so long will make you distraught at the thought of the two never seeing one another again and compassion the two have for one another is astounding. Very well done by everyone who played a part in this modern adaptation to the old classic. Anyone who says differently must have a cast iron heart.
