If you're not familiar with the Broadway show, this film will not make sense and will be downright confusing, and potentially creepy. The film doesnt unpack the plot, because there really isnt a standard plot in the original show.
If you appreciate art and dance, especially ballet, this is a masterpiece. As always, Ian McKellan and Idris Elba, were superb.
