***SPOILERS*** This show was terrible! While I did enjoy learning about Georgia and her past, I hated Ginny. She was really just a total brat who used her race as her only personality trait. Throughout the story she is terrible to her mother (Georgia) even when she was really nice to her. For example, for Ginny’s birthday Georgia threw this huge birthday party for her (it wasn’t like a little kid party or anything, and she only invited her best friends) and SHE DIDN'T EVEN SAY THANK YOU! She just snuck out of the house to go to a teenage party. Plus there are a lot of scenes at the high school (Because that’s where she goes to school) and they portray what it’s like there badly. There’s a scene where a guy tap dances for his girlfriend cause it’s her birthday and sends her Happy Friday messages where he is singing Happy Friday with a dog filter on. While there is diversity in this show and occasionally brings actual teenage problems to life (like body image, divorced parents) there is nothing else about it that’s great. I think the main thing that annoyed me the most was when Ginny went looking in Georgia’s closet when she was supposed to be a school. She found a box under the floorboards filled with stuff from her past like pictures and a jacket, and while she was looking Georgia came home from dropping off Ginny’s little brother Austin to school. As a single mother who thought her kids were at school, she thought someone had broken into her home and opened the closet with a gun pointed. Later on in the story Ginny talks about how her mom was maniacal for doing that, but Georgia was the one acting reasonably. All in all, don’t watch this.
