Disappointing. I was hoping for cerebral cyber-punk and got a low-budget overly-theatrical poorly-cast too-long Easter movie. At first I thought the cast were over-acting, then I realised its also the casting, direction and editing that are off. Every shot is too long. Every sad look has too much fake forehead action to be believable. The female cast are too young and too conventionally male-gaze beautiful to be believable as world-leading scientists. Not saying female scientists can't be male-gaze beautiful, but here its just an unbelievable trope. The male cast, who are also supposedly world-leading scientists, stand around making dumb jokes like a bunch of dudes at their University orientation day. The old physicist leader lady speaks with a stronger Chinese accent now than she did when she first arrived in the USA from China 40 years ago. Withstanding the cringe factor to watch to the end to solve the mystery is a chore.
